The smallest of passengers are of course also warmly welcomed aboard our flights. And with our special services for children, we also do everything possible to make traveling as pleasant as possible for them and their parents.
Traveling with a baby or an infant...
Useful to know:
-
Do you want to warm up baby food or bottle formula that you have brought along during the flight? No problem. On board Martinair, you can of course make use of the microwave to warm up the food. The cabin staff is glad to help with this.
-
We bring along baby cradles on board almost every flight. These are suitable for children up to 6 months old.
-
Babies and infants under 2 years of age do not have their own seat but sit on the lap of the parent. If so desired, the parents can buy a separate seat for their child.
-
For safety reasons, it is not permitted to take more than one baby per adult along on the trip.
-
A great portion of our toilets are equipped with baby changing tables. Here you can change your child in complete calm and privacy.
Transport of baby carriages, buggies, and Maxi-Cosis
You can take your child along up to the airplane in a buggy, baby carriage, or Maxi-Cosi. Upon boarding, you then hand it over to the cabin staff of the airplane. Is your child traveling on board in his or her own seat? Then you can take along an infant car seat or Maxi-Cosi and affix it to the seat. Buggies and baby carriages may never be used in the cabin. If it fits, it may be taken along in the overhead compartments. If it does not fit, then it is taken along in the cargo hold and returned to you at the gate immediately after landing.
Tip:
It is unfortunately not always possible to give all parents with children a seat with extra legroom and/or a cradle connection. We therefore recommend that you reserve a separate seat for your child.
Children traveling alone
Is your child younger than 5 years old? Then your child must always be accompanied by a companion passenger of 17 years or older. Children of 5 years or older may travel without a companion. These children traveling alone are of course always looked after such that they are safely passed on to the receiving party at the destination. Please indicate upon booking that it concerns a child traveling alone.
Children traveling alone fall into two age groups:
-
Children from 5 through 11 years of age
For these children traveling alone, the adult rate applies. They thereby do not pay a service fee for accompaniment from Martinair.
-
Children from 12 through 17 years of age
Children from 12 through 17 years of age may travel without a companion. Should you indeed wish accompaniment from Martinair, then we charge € 60 per one-way trip.
Note:
Special rules apply to children traveling alone up to 16 years of age to Canada, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. For more information, contact our Martinair Reservations department, telephone +31(0)20-6011767.
