Aruba: for active fun in the sun

Oranjestad is the capital city of the Island of Aruba, a former Dutch colony that has enjoyed a status aparte since 1986. Oranjestad is also the center of a gigantic Walhalla for water sports. Not surprising when you consider the ideal conditions here for scuba diving, snorkeling, sailing, windsurfing and kitesurfing. But there’s even more to enjoy besides sun, sea and sand. Be challenged by rocky cliffs, jump into a Jeep for an adventurous off-road expedition, or experience the joys of hiking through seemingly endless nature preserves.

  • Inviting and hospitable
  • Wonderful climate
  • Both exciting and relaxing
  • Active fun and sports

Warm and friendly

Bon bini! That means something like 'welcome', and it’s something you’re sure to be hearing everyday during your stay on Aruba. Arubans are exceptionally warm and friendly. They’re honored that you have chosen their island for a long vacation and they want nothing better than having you look forward to your next visit. But it’s not just the islanders who provide this welcoming feeling. It’s something you sense everywhere in Aruba. Nowhere else is the rhythm of a day so relaxed as it is on this warm and inviting island.

Diving and snorkeling paradise

What makes a good scuba diving site? Sparkling clear, pleasantly cool water with thousands of tropical fish, endless coral reefs and old shipwrecks? If so, Aruba passes the test with flying colors. What’s more, Aruba has around thirty diving sites that experienced divers consider outstanding. One fascinating location is the wreck of the Antilla, a 400-foot German freighter that went down in 1945. This is one of the largest wreck sites in the Caribbean. No diving experience? Find out more about scuba diving from one of the many instructors who will be pleased to give you a diving course and provide you with the right equipment.
