Vacation in Tobago

Tobago is a green and lush oasis about 30 miles northeast off the coast of Venezuela. Due in part to its 54 square miles of green, serene rainforest (the oldest protected primeval forest in the western hemisphere) and its long coastline with pristine beaches, Tobago was nominated the world’s best ecotourism destination in 2003! It’s a great place to relax and enjoy your vacation.

  • Undiscovered corner of paradise
  • Pristine beaches
  • Honeymoon destination
  • Unique flora and fauna
  • Cheerful steel pan music

Scarborough, the easygoing capital of Tobago

If you’re looking for something more to do, a visit to Scarborough, Tobago’s capital city, comes very highly recommended. Don’t worry about being trampled by hordes of tourists – Scarborough is an easygoing town that feels as cozy as a village, where you can take a leisurely stroll through the streets and enjoy the shops with their original trinkets. You’ll feel right at home in the charming guesthouses and local restaurants.

Island-hopping to Trinidad

If you’re in Tobago, the crossing to Trinidad is quick and easy. Every day but Saturday, a boat sails from Scarborough to Port-of-Spain, the capital of Trinidad. The trip takes about 2.5 hours. Too long for your taste? Take a domestic flight and you’ll cut your trip down to 20 minutes! The differences between the islands make comparative exploration especially fun. Where Tobago is first and foremost a peaceful vacation paradise, Trinidad feels much livelier. The island’s business center in Port-of-Spain in particular resembles a Western city, bustling with activity. But Trinidad can also offer peace and quiet. If you have the time to visit the hills to the north of Port-of-Spain, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the unspoiled nature with its mangrove swamps and rainforest. And of course the lovely beaches!
