It is not permitted to count up the baggage exemption of several persons and then, for example, take along one piece of carry-on baggage of 16 kilos.

  • Trolleys are accepted as carry-on baggage if they fulfill the conditions above.
  • Are you taking along your toilet bag or beauty case as carry-on baggage? Make sure that there are no sharp objects in it, such as razor blades, nail scissors, and nail files. You must also take into consideration the most recent rules with regard to liquids and gels in your carry-on baggage.
For more information go to Rules regarding liquids and gels in carry-on baggage.

Missing or damaged baggage

Martinair takes great strides to prevent missing or damaged baggage. If your checked-in baggage has not arrived at your destination or it has been damaged during the flight, then you are best off reporting this immediately (even before you pass customs).

Abroad, you must report missing or damaged baggage to the handling company or Martinair representative. In Amsterdam, you can approach the Martinair staff at the Schiphol Arrivals Hall. We advise you in this regard to carefully keep the baggage tickets that you receive upon checking in.

We also recommend in any case always to request a so-called PIR report (Property Irregularity Report). All important data can be noted in this. It is also advisable to take out travel baggage insurance before departure.

Would you like more information about missing or damaged baggage or do you have a question about objects found on board with Martinair?
