In other words: have a nice meal! Something that’s guaranteed during your holiday in the Dominican Republic. The food is tasty and affordable! A sofrito (mixture of herbs and spices) combined with a variety of fresh, local ingredients is the basis for Dominican cooking. Local delicacies include pescado con coco, fish in a very special coconut sauce, and bandera Dominicana, a delicious combination of meat, beans and rice. Also try drinking some mamajuana: legend would have it that he who drinks this beverage extends his life.
Punta Cana offers ample opportunity to discover whether you like Dominican cooking. However, you can also make a selection from a wide variety of international restaurants. Here’s a small selection of what you can look forward to.
Pure enjoyment at Capitán Cook’s
One of Punta Cana’s most famous restaurants. Just sit back and enjoy the view of the beautiful sea. The menu consists mostly of delicious fresh fish, prepared on one of the many barbeques.
Playa El Cortecito, El Cortecito
Dancing dinner at the Caribbean Beach Party
It’s like being at the carnival! The beach is decorated to suit the theme of the evening. Don’t be surprised to be waited on by real pirates during the Caribbean Pirates Night, or be alarmed by the acrobatics between the tables, the fire eaters, or the couples going wild, dancing to rhythmic beats. A night to remember!
Huracán Café
For a perfect lunch, a fancy dinner or a long night. The café is very trendy, and you’re sure to run into a lot of locals. Words cannot describe the experience. You have to experience it for yourself!

Tips
It would be better not to drink any water from the tap in the Dominican Republic. Instead, drink bottled mineral water and also use it for brushing your teeth. We recommend peeling fruit before eating it. The same advice goes for tomatoes and other raw vegetables.
